Our History
The Children’s Advocacy Center was the first organization in Circuit 19 to create a non-threatening, child-friendly place for children to share their traumatic experiences. Prosecutors, law enforcement, sexual assault victim advocates, child protective services (CPS), and medical providers all came together to this single location to collaborate an ultimately reduce the number of time the child would have to share and relive their story.
These connections allowed the center to provide emergency and scheduled forensic medical examinations for child or vulnerable adult victims of sexual assault with SANE-SART and also begin a prevention program within the community.
