— Guardian’s for New Futures (GFNF), the non-profit organization supporting the Guardians ad Litem on the Treasure Coast, is seeking support from the community to provide back to school supplies to abused, abandoned and neglected children.

The Kits4Kids program is designed to provide a good quality backpack and new school supplies to children in need within the district, which includes Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties.

GFNF has provided supplies for roughly 1,000 children in the last two years. GFNF has been working to raise enough funds to provide the tools the children need.

Many of these children who have been removed from the home are not in “paid care” but instead are staying with relative and friend caregivers. These caregivers do not have access to other local giving programs and are not eligible for the financial support given to foster families or to children living in “group homes."

The identities of the children in dependency court are confidential, and the children living with friends and relatives are in dire need of tools for school.

A $20 donation will provide a book bag and all the basic supplies needed for back to school.

Residents and public can sponsor a child or children by donating on-line via www.gfnf4kids.org or mail a donation to GFNF, 1850 S.W. Fountainview Blvd., Suite 201, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986.

All donations, large or small, benefit the children. Back To School Kits4Kids is a wonderful opportunity for individuals or organizations to give back to the community and significantly help less fortunate children.
